For us who have already stepped into Canada it has been a time of frustration and despair and a fight to survive in order to have a comfortable life. There is no way one can save unless you keep cutting some ends because the system is such that it some how takes all you earn whether in taxes or your own expenses or any other way.

This is not true for me or many people I know who are not at all frustrated by what being in Canada has done for them. However, I'm sure it is true for Sahib and many others.

But we have to remember Daniel is 47. He is going to have a few of of frustrations while he is learning how the system works. Once you are more or less settled then i think it may be different. Correct me if i am wrong.

One point i would like to mention is that your social life will be very much retricted because you just may not get time for it from making ends meet.....The friends you have cultivated and your own culture are irreplaceble.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Daniel , i agree with most of the comments...i do not know what stage of immigration are you in. if you have applied ...and have got it or are going to get it ...there is no harm in coimng over for a few weeks and test the waters and deciding for yourself ...to move or not to move.
with age it get more and more difficult to find a good job ...but you could turn out to be an exception ......you will never know unless you try
i'll leave you with this thought ...it is good to play safe ...but that should not stop one from exploring if the opportunity is there
Good luck

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
Immigration is for the young set, anyone under 25 or 30 will make it relatively quicker than anyone over. My dad is about 55 (?) and he just likes visiting me but never wants to stay more than a month because he had no friends and stuff his age here or in the US. And my mom really hates even visiting coz she wants her whole kitty party circle around her wherever she goes. If u r well settled where u r at then this place is not for u. If u LIKE to be active and work 24/7 nevermind the income, just for something to be busy at, that's different. But if u have an established life and are comfortable, at yr age, it's kinda hard to resettle somewhere else. UNLESS unless unless u have a whole lot of family and friends here as well and then it's probably gonna be ok. I think people who are older need to have a lot of family and old friends around to be happy (don't ask me why).
For your daughters this would be a good place. You could send them here to study or get them married and they could come here with their husbands. They would probably fare better and like it here too. Then you'll have a hard time getting them to come back home.
