So I decided not to use any moving company and go with a co. called U Pack - they leave a large trailer at your home and then you fill it up and block the area that you can use.
In my case, I had 2 bedroom house worth of goods so it came to 16 sq. feet.
They picked the trailer same evening and I started driving to Queenston Bridge.
Why Queenston - that's the only bridge where US Customs handles car exports.
Despite my best driving - I was late by a few minutes (US Customs works from 9-4, M-F) so I decided to enter Canada and return later if need be.
Good people at Canada Customs made sure that I was not to be subjected to any further hassles and told me not to worry as they will allow me to import cars without US customs stamps.
So note - If you don't get to have your cars papers stamped at US Customs - don't panic - Canada Customs will help.
Now I'm patiently waiting for my trailer to arrive and hope to setlle down in next few days.
Question to new movers - what should I do next in terms of
Health cards - how soon can/should I apply
Car Insurance - which co. / how much
any other issues /benefits I should sign up for.

Good Advise. Thanks
hi desi desi,
there are lot of car insurance companies. u should shop around to get a good quote and go with the company u give u best price and coverage.
try StateFarm, https://www.belairdirect.com/indexonen.htm, http://www.kanetix.ca, etc..sometimes u get better deal compared with online quote u get so it's worth to give a call...
i know a person workin in ins. company, msg me and leave me ur contact number if u want. i will pass his name and number to u.
good luck, btw, how u find canada compared with usa?
Be prepared for an "insurance shock" though.
Although NJ is amongst the highest for insurance rates in the US, you will still feel the kick...
Try and stay with the same company if possible.
I now pay close to double of what I used to pay for the same car more than 8 years ago, go figure

It will be a good idea to get an advice from CPA before filling out any forms for CRA. Also CPA can you give you an advise on what benefits you can get/apply for based on your family.
Thanks Guys
Thanks for making me brace for the hits ( Insurance) and ATM.
