A friend of mine just called me and expressed interest to move to Canada.
Here is a brief background on him:
In India: Son of a business man, very rich, daring, always ready to take risk.
He said he wants to live in canada permanantly. He is ready to invest upto $1 million and set up a business (restaurant he thinks).
Howeve due to some family issues in India he wants to move to Canada ASAP. I checked out and the quickest he can get his PR would be to apply from Berlin and that will take atleast 2 years. He mentioned that he cannot wait and wants to get here by Jan-Feb.
What are his options. Can he come here do business under any other visa and apply for PR from here. He has enough financial resources to come here buy home invest and run business however he want to come here ASAP due to issues with family. He wants to come with his wife and one boy who is in junnior college in india

He can come as a business class investor whereby he has to invest in a certain amount of money in Canada on a buisiness for a certain no of years ( I think $500K for 3 years). Once he has done think he will qualify for PR. But you will have to check the current progress rate (time). Banks/Govt. Of Canada is giving loans for this amount if you put even around around 20% down.
The other method is to check thevarious Govt. nomination programme of various provinces (Like Sask., Nova Scotia and not Ontario) etc...
One of your best bet would be to visit XXXXX in India and tell them your position. They may advise you on your options and time lines. Once you know the options, then you can ditch them and then research on the internet and apply on your own.
Your friend should also check USA, Australia, NZ, UK and Chek republic if their options and timelines are more favourable to him, rather than coming into this frozen land.

By the way what is Chek republic? Is it Czech...why would somebody want to immigrate to Czech...especially somebody doing so well in India.

I agree with Tourist regarding 'Czeck Republic'. Although, I see a strong point in considering other countries as stated in TK's post, I fail to understand why would someone consider immigration to Czeck Republic where 94.9% population doesn't speak a word of English (CIA World Factbook). So, I beg to differ on this. This applies to all the other European countries as well. Reason why noone wants to move to Quebec here in Canada.
I strongly prefer Australia. I believe it's got the lesser wait times for immigration of all forms. If I could reverse the clock, I would rather opt for Australia over Canada anytime.
The clock is still ticking ... nothing stops you to migrate to Australia even now ... I myself contemplate of this sometimes .

Thanks for correcting me on the Typo.
If you read the OP's post, you will see that he wants to escape India at any cost owing to parental compulsion and I have seen from a famous immigration facilitator that Czeck Republic is in need of major Business investors and one can immigrate there very soon and the laws are favourable for Business investing. I agree that most of them donot speak English and hence it may be difficult for an Immigrant to settle there. However, if they are allowing business investors in that country, it is fair to assume that they might be having some settlement programmes for the immigrants (Business).
Just wanted to tell the OP of all possible avenues.
May be the OP's friend can try Mauritius, Fiji as well.

What he wants to know is: Which country will allow him in very quickly and let him invest money and start a business LEGALLY. I mean ASAP (1-3 months)
Canada, US, Mauritiaus anything where english is spoken and is more/equally developed as India.
does anyone know of a country like that?
