It is also better to buy in the outskirts (meaning outside of Toronto). Toronto is not longer being attractive for house owners.
There is a cost of living in the 'burbs if you work in downtown Toronto.
Driving costs, car insurance, time spent commuting, etc.
Markham libraries are state of the art.
Commute is not that bad if you work closer to Union otherwsie walk or TTC will be more time or more money as you mentioned.
So it all depend on your situation etc. married with children, single anyway, write all the pros and cons and then go forward with the one you can not live without otherwsie there will always be these catches. There is not perfect or dream house just best.
Yes my friend you are right but i have seen how they live. There is an indian family with 2 kids have rented every single room of their house and the entire family live in one room. They only get shower on certain day (meaning not every day). The never use dryer to dry clothes. Off course no dish washer etc etc. Anyway, you have to see to believe how we Indians live and able to afford the houses.
Another one: Live in the basement rented out main floor. Should I keep going or it enough to appreciate the modest living of our people and secret of afford ability.
Also some of us made money in a different market like Vancouver
bc2on... I think most of us never know all these realities. We assume a certain kind of standard/life style that people aspect in western world.
Are we (Calgary) next Miami or San Diego? Yes we are and here is big start. Is it still a right time to buy?

A Delhite in Toronto
Sales of new houses will drop and so the construction rate which will maintain current prices, I believe-you do not have agree.
There are several reasons for the new construction drop one of them is material cost increase due to inflationa dn gas prices around the world. A few yaer older houses are selling for reasonable prices where the brand new ones' fail to match. Also the Canadian market will remain strong due to reasons I posted in another thread to Rahul-Sigh23 post. I believe, it is time to buy.
First home should be bought at any time. It is always late. It is best time to buy now as low interest rates and easy mortgage in Canada.
