happily holi day!
Hi New York,
Congratulations on the arrival of Sufyan!!!!
May GOD bless him with good health, long and stress-free life and prosperity too! Amen!!
As far hiccups are concerned, I think they are good sign because when we had our first kid, we were also worried but fortunately my parents were here and my mom told me that the hiccups are not 'hichki' but 'aandar wadhaii'(punjabi word) meaning baby's internal system was growing and the digestion system was good. She told my wife 'strictly' not to feed the baby during hiccups, let her complete the hiccups cycle. The only thing we could do was pick her up in our arms and/or made her rest on shoulder. She would cry sometimes if the 'hiccups cycle' was longer and she was feeling sleepy but then its for her own well-being. As a matter of fact my mom used to enquire if she had couple of 'hiccups cycle' everyday or not and if not, it was matter of concern for her.

I remember after my daughter was born the first time she had hiccups (I think she was about 4/5 days old). Her tiny chest sunk all the way in and out and I was about to call 911 (thinking she was having breathing difficulties) when my mom-in-law said exactly what Sanjeev just posted. "Nothing to worry, its hiccups and a sign that the baby is growing." I still remember how calm she was as I was sweating profusely and super nervous with all kinds of thoughts flashing in my head on what to do.
Also remember the "getting the baby to burp" part after each feeding very distinctly. Never realized that getting a burp out of someone could be so exhilirating
What an amazing ride you're in for, nothing compares! Make sure you take tons of pictures!
