I agree with you, most of the IIM's whom I know have come from engineering background, they finish Engg first and later try for IIM...some even as you said worked before going for IIM. The article talks about the cream of students and it’s not only for MBA's I think for engineers (IIT cream), CA (one has to be first attempt CA and not lingering on for 7 yrs to become one) etc...Cream is always eaten up first!

There is a age limit for joining IIMs. Is it 28?
