Hi Guys,

I am seeking an information regarding my parents' visitor visa application. I haven't yet applied but will be, in few months. I have following questions:

1. If I am sending the invitation letter, does it negatively affect the case if I am living on rent myself?

2. Despite of the above, I am earning a decent salary to support them - can it be taken into account?

3. How much money do they need to show in their bank account?

4. If they have a house in India, a job (of my dad), and my sister back home - does it fulfil the requirements of having ties with the home country?

5. I have heard that now a days you need to submit the application to the agents and not directly to the CHC. Is it true? If it is, then where from can I get the list of the authorized agents in this regard?

6. How much time does it normally take to process the visitor visa?

7. Can I first sponsor my parents and while the process is underway (it takes about 3 years or so) can they apply for visitor visa?

I will really appreciate if someone can please let me know about the above, and who has either gone through the process or an expert.

Thank you guys for the attention and any valuable inputs.

Take care..

I will take a shot at answering whatever I can.

No

Of course, send your pay stubs/job letter and your bank statements.

3. How much money do they need to show in their bank account?
There is no fixed amount and it has no direct bearing on the chances of getting a visa.
Of course, the more the better.

This is the greyest area.
Only the consular officer will make this determination.
It is very subjective and there are no written rules about it - you do the best you can.

The CHC New Delhi website should have all the required information.
Most travel agents do this for free if you are booking the ticket with them.

Depending on where you are sending the application from - anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks.

It is better to secure the visitor visa first before applying for immigration.
Since you are saying it takes 3 years anyway, 3 weeks more is not going to make any difference.

Nice informations, thanks everyone for sharing. In addition to this , i have few more questions ;
1) Is there any trend seen with CHC issuing visitor visa for multiple entries for 5 years or 10 years (like US embassy).
2) For parents visiting first time, is there any standard minimum duration visa issued or it depends on case to case.

Thanks
Sukhbinder

Haven't heard or noticed anything.
10 year multiple entry visa is rare, unlike US, where most elderly folks are often issued 10 year visas.
5 year multiple entry is more common for CHC.

Case-by-case, although 6 months validity is pretty standard.

Don't make any plans until you actually get the visa.
