Hi All,

I am having a job interview tomorrow with leading bank for the vacancy of PBO.
Is there anyone in this field who can guide me with the interview process and the possible/tricky questions they may ask.

Thanks,
Umesh

Hello Morning Rain,

The interview went very well but they offered me a Teller job instead of PBO job, probably because of the fact that I don't have any experience. I was fighting the battle on the basis of my academics.

Now I don't know either to accept it or not. I am thinking over it. I need to reply them next week.

Any suggestiong (Pros and Cons) from you all?

Thanks
Umesh

It depends on your condition, background and other personal preference. If you are a new immigrant, IMO you should start working with the Bank and wait for internal opening. The reason being that any internal opening that is advertised has to be filled by an eligible employee and only if they do not find one then the job gets advertised for outside filling.
That way you will be one step ahead to your goal.

I agree with Charlie. If your goal is to work in a financial institution, I think becoming a teller is a good way to get your foot in the door, plus also gain industry experience.

You will gain the skills you need to work at a more senior level position in a bank, as well as getting the opportunity to network with people who make the hiring decisions. In essence, you have a chance (if you want to take it) of creating a career path for yourself.

What is your academic background? ensure that you send a thank you card ASAP (best time is usually within 24 hours) for the interview and even if you havent made the decision yet.

If you do take the Teller position, find out if they offer benefits such as paid training/upgrading. Take some related courses in Finance to support your academic background .. also talk to the PBO in the company and get to know what kind of background (years of experience, education, knowledge skills and abilities) that the hiring people look for.

I think all in all it is a positive step - if this is your goal.

Thankyou very much Charlie and Morning Rain.

I am a new immigrant landed here in this Feb. My academic background is MCom, MBA (Financial Services) from India and then CSC from Canada.
Your suggestions are convincing and valueable to me.
I was just thinking that probably I am degrading myself and blocking my chances for higher position in future by accepting this position as I am setting my level. But it seems that I was just thinking of only one side of the coin.

Again, thanks for your suggestions.

Umesh
