Has anyone gone on a guided tour by bus? I have seen tour buses at vacation destinations and wondered about the logistics...i.e., cost, schedule and how comfortable they are etc etc.

Has anyone heard of and/or used the services of Taipan Tours? They have attractive packages for Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal-Quebec City-Kingston-Toronto.

I've booked with Taipan for the Candian East Coast tour for the last week in July. I did check with a few friends and they recommended the tour. It is very hectic. Here is some info I gathered:

* The bus leaves around 8am every morning.
* They make a halt every 3-4 hrs
* The drivers changes the seating arrangement for every leg. This is to ensure fairness to all passengers
* There is a $8 per passenger/day for tips to driver and tour guide
* They mostly stop at Chinese restaurants for food
* They DO NOT allow any coolers on the bus
* The bus has 4-5 pick-up locations in the GTA. Starting at Weston Road, Mississuaga, Downtown (Spadina Rd), Pacific Mall

My neighbour is taking the tour this week (July 2-9). I'll get some feedback from them next week and post it here

The price reduces for every additional member (max. 4 / room). Just as an example for a family of 4, I'll be paying $1900 for the 7-day tour (does not include food and attractions)

I have also heard that Tai-pan accomodation is very good. Many times they put you in Sheraton. Though I have not yet taken any tour with Tai-pan.

Sudesingh, Once you finish your trip, can you post your experience on the website?

Bon Voyage!

We went to Ottawa montreal quebec tour with them, accomodation is good. It has its + and - meaning you have to adhere to their schedule and sometime due to lack of time you do not see what you want to see or not enough time...ont he other hand, you dont have to worry abt driving or directions etc.

ex. with a kid, we did not have to worry abt car seat and belt and kid was free, but they gave us 1 hr for ottawa museum which needs abt a day to see, did not take us inside the parliament, did not see mint while running. but at least cld do this trip which we wld not have done in car even till now.

hi all,
i have some positive feed back about tai pan tours.
based on my own previous experience about guided tours
( not tai pan though ),
I have decided to give it a try.
hence i have booked a new york, atlantic city, washington tour with tai pan.
It costs @ C$ 743 ( bus + accomodation ) for a family of Four
In fact we are two families.
The dates are Aug. 04 , 07 - Aug. 07,07.
If any one interested , plz join in .
we might as well have a bigger group and enjoy more.
Viren
