If your I 94 states B1(business) or B2(pleasure or medical treatment) please state your reason accordingly at the border.

Two weeks back when my I 94 was issued at Detroit as a B1 but yesterday at the border (Lewiston) when I tried to cross as a pleasure trip the immigration officer put on her thinking cap and told me that my I 94 had B1 written on it that had a business intent.

She immediately let me go though.
