Hello CDs,

My mother visited us last fall and she got a I94 while crossing the border. We retained I94 because we had another trip planned for US. however, that trip was cancelled and my mother went back to India. We tried to return it at the border and they said they have no proof of her leaving so they cant accept it. what is the way to return it back? we do not want any hassles on her next visit. Thanks for replies.

BAsh.

Please use the search option to find out. It was discussed before.
BL made the latest post on it.
It is some immigration booth at Terminal 3. You have to call via a buzzer / mic. and a US immigration guard will come and take it.
Peace

You can retain the I-94 and if there is another visit to US in future, keep her Canada departure record (stamps in passport). That will work - at least worked for us.

The advantage of returning I-94 is, the exit record goes into the system and there will not be any questions about it in future.

I never returned mine... BUT the point is never let them find an expired i-94 attached to your passport.. I always trashed after it expired...

option 1-- you should have made the trip and returned the I-94

option 2-- you should have returned the I-94 at Pearson Airport, terminal 3 when she was here. THey will not take some one else's I-94 in their absence. e.g. What if the person is still in US, mailed the I-94 to you and then you returned ?

option 3-- risky but , detach it from passport, carry all her exit proof out of country like tickets, iterenary etc when you travel in future to US and atleast there is a way to demonstrate that she left the country
