It is simply becoz of supply and demand ratio! the industry people know that every year they are getting new immigrants to this country who will be prepared to work at lower rates without compromising on the quality. So in my opinion, it is simply, intentional exploitation!

This is a potentially very important think. As said by Shrek, we can raise this ppoint at a political level. regardless of your opinion on this matter, there is quite some truth to this matter. I heard yesterday in Toronto there was some meeting in which the Mayor also attended and this was one of the points raised...i dont have more details now.

It is not intentional and it is not exploitation. Simple, if you go from one country to another your qualifications and education may or may not be recognized at the same level... there is no global standards or equivalency. This is nothing unique to Canada. I know people who moved from USA/Canada to European countries and faced the same situation. A large part of working in any country is the interaction with the people of that country. At the end of the day, your exceptional work skills, experience and education means nothing if you don't know the environment you need to operate in and/or lack people skills applicable to that country.

How did you get your first job in US? Unless you came through Indian body shops/H-1 and/or during boom time, US companies will treat you the same way as Canadian company."Sorry! you don't have US experience" or "Sorry! you don't have US experience but we will hire you at half the average salary." I have gone through this in US for my first job during bad time in late 80s and early 90s. You all have unrealistic expectations of what you deserve because of boom time experience in US.

I agree with the point made that many from India enter this country with fake qualifications. But then , in my experience , this happens even in the US. The difference is that over there it is a well organized racket. Desi Companies sponsor guys with absolutely no relevant work experience for H1Bs. They inflate their resumes , give fake references and land a contract with a client. The Desi company pockets 100$/hr and pays these fellas $40,000 / yr. Everyone's happy.

I interviewed guys from India whom a company over here wanted to recruit on "work permit" , the guys were supposed to have "over 5 years IT experience" after a B.Tech degree. Out of the 12 guys I spoke with , I would say with certainity that only one was experienced and qualified as claimed. The rest were lying. All the 12 would have managed to get their PR and would have come over here. I wouldn't blame any unlucky employer who had stopped believing Indians after recruiting these 11 and seeing them work.

Anil, you are right I was sponsored by Indian company initally, but I have couple of friends who came on their own and found work. The peak time or no peak time should not make any difference if you are capable and competent. Even while sitting in Canada I send resume to USA companies and I get responses from them but so far I never recieved even a single response (except one where I work now..LOL) from any of the Canadian company here. Anyways, grass always look greener on the other side. Best policy is "take the life as it comes" :-) ... Cheers
