My 2 cents as under:

1) Nothing can replace a live human supervision. Keep runnig water risky, new thermostate never know when stops working, I wouldn't take chance.

2) Best thing is find a friend who also owns HOUSE or related knowledge and ask him/her to look after your property as much as he/she can. Pay him upfront $200-250 for his time , he can visit twice a week for half an hour. Leave your contact for emergency with him with couples of prepaid phone cards. You can call from India just to find out every thing is OK here.

3) Get paid help as above from your neighbour. When you give him a key, inform him that you have left another key with your friend who lives little far, may visit this place. I have given your name and he will knock your door to say Hi & Thank You. (Will save your house from misused)

4) You can inform nearest police station in writing about going away for 2 months, petrolling police car will pass by and keep an eye on your house specially at night.

5) Leave Big Sign NO FLYERS, NO JUNK MAILS Please!

6) Don't forget to bring back your Key set with you.

7) Don't leave Valuables assets and important documents in house.

8) If you won't have any of above options, order for 2 way security system which is best for going away situation. It will cost you but worth.
