Minimum wages -- Savings possible?

HI all,
I have three questions:

1. For a family of two (no kids), and if both partners are earning minimum wages, how much savings is possible after tax deduction and all living costs -- either in Calgary or Halifax?

2. How much tax is deducted from minimum wage earners?

3. Is it a 5 day week / 8 hours a day scenario for most minimum wage earners?
