I am a family of 3 which includes my 3 yrs old daughter. We are about to move to Mississauga. Can someone please tell me what are the day care expenses in Mississauga?
I believe the rent is around 800$ for a decent 1BR apartment, right?

You could rent basements in Mississauga from $650(illegal in Town Houses) to $750 to $800 based on your negotiation skills.

Please read the lease agreement very carefully and read the fine print. If you have a laundry in the basement, the owners would have easy access to your basement. You need to give 2 months notice prior to vacating after the 1 year lease period in this area. As you have a 3 year old daughter it would be preferable to get into a apartment as the air inside the basement would be harmful to her over a period of time and she will lose track of time.

You could get a 1 bed room apartment near Bloor and Dixie starting from $750 to $850. The problem here would be the cockroaches and lack of security in these buildings.

The day care for full time day care i.e., 7AM to 6.00PM will be $145 per week. You could also let a desi family take care and they might charge between $2 to $5 per hour based on the needs.

Good Luck and God Bless!

cockroaches ?? I thought we left them in India !!

And thanks for bringing to my attention about the basement. I will definitely keep that in mind.

Also, do you happen to know what locality this address would fall in:

2425 Matheson Blvd East
Mississauga, ON L4W 5K4

Can you recommend the nearest indian community that I can approach?

Thank you so much in advance.

The address you have given is also part of the desi ghetto, where this esteemed desi also resides(hibernates). It is in the factories area. If you want to check out any locations in Canada or look up a person you can do it this site of http://www.411.ca." rel="nofollow">LINK

Remember when we come here we do not just bring our excess baggage, we also carry our pride and prejudices along with us.

You think cockroaches only exists in India?. A rude shock is awaiting you. You are yet to see somethings here in Canada, which you will not see where ever you are. In mississauga you need to search around for a Gora !(just kidding).

You are asking a question \"which is the nearest Indian community you need to approach?\".

You need to rephrase that question to \"which Indian community(punjabis, gujaratis, bengalis, Indian tamils, Sri Lankan tamils, telugu, malayalam you need to approach?). Typically Brampton is full of Punjabis, Malton is full of telugus, you would find Sri Lankan tamils in Scarborough/Markham/North York areas. So you will find clear cut demarkation of Indian communities in various areas.

Every language has its own sangh, like Kannada Sangh, Telugu Sangh, Tamil Sangam, you will find a sub division of tamil sangams like Chettiar Sangams, Tirunelveli Sangam and the list goes on.

I do hope I'll not hear from you \"where can I find typical Canadian communities?\". I do not know which state you are from in India, and what religion you follow. But you find everything related to that here.

I do not know whether to call it a melting pot or a Vegetable Salad.

Most important advice to you if you are living in an apartment complex with lots of Desis/Chinese:

Do not leave your laundry unattended in the laundry room. If you are washing or drying let there be a person from your family watching over your laundry. Either clothes would go missing or you'll find that your clothes are wet, as somebody has removed your clothes after you started the drier and filled with their clothes ran the machine and your wet clothes will be lying on the top of the laundry machine. If you ask them pat will come the reply, your clothes weren't dry and the machine was off and hence I removed them and started my clothes in that machine.

I want to end your sermon with a small joke which happened in malton. One of my friends bought this new home, and he got a new refrigerator installed. As he had no requirement for the older fridge(even though it was in a working condition) he put it out in the front walkway thinking that some one would take it way. It was lying there for 3 days and nobody cared for it. Next day he put a sticker on it saying, \\\"For Sale for $50\\\"; it was gone/disappeared within the next one hour.

Welcome to Canada ! Welcome to India away from India!

Income tax is cut from your salary on all jobs.

Some exceptions may be where you get paid in cash. e.g. taxi-drivers, pizza-delivery guys (tips, etc. are tax-free since nobody would report them).

visit http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK which is the website of the Canada Revenue agency which is responsible for tax.

Hello Everybody,

I need your serious guidance here. I am planning to move to Canada in a year's time with my husband and 4 years old child. I am 32 now. We both are doing admin jobs in Mumbai and wish to do similar jobs in canada too. (Could it be possible? Of course we both are prepared to take up any available job initially, we are flexible)

Something about Calgary and Edmonton: These two cities are growing very rapidly and the future has never looked so bright . There is a huge industry developing around the booming of Alberta oilsands, which has resulted in huge surplus for the Albertans. This year every Albertan tax payer recieved $400 cheque as a tax benefit.

In a nut shell the positives are : less taxes (no pst), , property prices are not as high as Toronto and Vancouver, urban infrastructure is being enhanced and further developed to gear up for major population growth. For $500-$600 you can get decent rental apartments , in toronto an average basement apartment can cost over $800. Jobs are more easily available compared to toronto and vancouver. Part time jobs are plentiful with few takers.

Downside : Calgary and Edmonton are much colder than toronto , but then it is a matter of getting used to it , the amount of time you get exposed to real winter is only between the car/bus and the home / office or shops.

Good luck with your search for the right city.

I'd request you to keep us posted with your experience when you finally decide and when your experience after you land and settle down.
