hi canada is really a good country to live in.
i went there twice and came back. i am a practising ca in delhi.
job situation is real tough there. i think u have to study there first .
there is a new posting about job scene for engineers there. it is shocking that around 10000 qualified engineers are landing every year in toronto out of which only 15% getting engineering related jobs.

Is Edmonton/Calgary so bad? I don't know, why have you picked up those two places?
Yes I've visited job sites...seems that there's some scope for jobs provided I can get a fair hearing.
Unfortunately I still don't have exposure to SOX, I've got BS7799 & SAS-70.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that Edmonton or Calgary is bad. Just that the big firm offices there seem to be willing to bring people in on work permits, while the offices in a place like Toronto are not.
General audit experience in an Information Risk Management (IRM) practice at a big firm combined with a CISA designation should be good enough. There’s a lot of SAS70 work also going around now.
SOX (including SAS70) being an annual compliance exercise, this requirement for people isn’t going away in a hurry. Moreover, we’re going to have a large number of Canadian first time filers during 2006, so the big firms are likely to be in recruiting mode through most of next year too.
Also try the big-firm websites, and if you have previous big-firm experience / contacts, see if you can link up with someone in an office who could ensure that your Resume gets ‘seen’. The big-4 have a policy of bonuses to employees who facilitate recruitment, so if you can link up with someone, they should be more than willing to ‘help out’ if you know what I mean……
There’s no guarantee that you will get an opportunity while outside of Canada, but foreign recruitment happens frequently enough to be worth a shot.
