Hi All,

I've been contemplating on moving to Canada, I'm in Bangalore, an IT professional I earn about 10L here.

I'm an Information Security Auditor and Consultant with about 14 years of IT experience in management positions. I'm certified up the wazzoo to put it politely;).

I'd appreciate any advise you guys out there who have real time exposure to the situation could give.

I would appreciate candid and honest opinions.

I am sure you are doing well and are also financially well off in India . Whats your reason to look to Canada ? What are you missing in your life that you are looking to fulfill by coming to Canada.

Not to put a damper but have you considered the time required for the process?

I assume you are 32-35, and the process takes around 4 years in India, which means you will be close to 40 by the time you land.

Of course, if you can apply from outside of India, the time could be dramatically shortened.

Hello Mr. IT guy,

I am from Pakistan and I hope you wont mind if I give you some advise.
You earn around 10 Lac Rupees in India , is this your per annum income?

If you are earning this much in India and If you think that you dont have any such problems with your job their, then I would recommend you not to leave your current job because at the moment according to my understanding and knowledge, the situation of Canada is not as good as people living in India or Pakistan might be assuming.
The unemployment ratio is pretty high ,you would be surprized to know that my very close friend who graduated from York University in Toronto ,is not geting job although he has applied in more than 30 places.

I am not trying to break your heart my friend, just leting you know about the current situation of Canada, apart from job problems ,I dont think their is any such problem living in Canada, it is a very good place .

People of Canada are nice+wise, their are lots of places in Canada worth seeing and life standard is pretty high over there.

If you are planning to move to Canada, then I think you should apply for employment visa. Otherwise if you come to Canada on other vise, then you will be looking for jobs throughout the city which will be an headache for you.

Regards,

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome

you sound like someone who would be able to make it here...however, it also looks like you will have quite a bit at stake. Why not research on canadian jobsites? or better yet apply and then visit for a couple of months to see the situation first hand. Qualifications and Experience alone does notget you a job here...you will peobably not fully comprehend why I say this until you coe see for yourself. Maybe someone else can explain better.

Try searching with the keyword 'Sarbanes Oxley'.

The accounting firms have been recruiting auditors (including IT auditors), and hiring on a work permit is not uncommon, especially if you are willing to go to places like Edmonton or Calgary. Once here, you could process your immigration and move out into industry where there is a 'reasonably considerable' requirement in compliance, again Sarbanes oxley compliance being a keyword.

Good luck.
