You have to find out the cause of the leak which you need to get fixed BEFORE you change the tiles and flooring.
Also please edit your post to remove this guy's name. Whatever you are alleging is difficult to prove as there is no receipt. He can say he never came to your house and you are ruining his business.

It shouldn't have to do anything with being desi or not, right?

Actually fault lies with us ... we always look for cheap alternative...
GG u r right , its not about Desi or someone else... there are lot of unqualified people out there who work under table ...
so my advice to OP, learn from mistake and move on .... there are many more bigger challenges in life , stop worrying about small thing.

Well said GG and BP. It does not matter if it was a Desi or a Phoren repairman. They did not do a good job and the OP is suffering with the after repair conundrum and is now left hanging with no one to turn to. In my opinion the OP merits a few words of solace and a little bit of help in trying to save what is left of the bathroom walls and the living room floor covered with Laminates.
Knowing the OP personally and coming to know that she is a single mother, my heart goes out to her and the family and in times of need, I will even go one step further in getting some to take a good look at the work done and how it could be salvaged some how and make the family feel secure in a country like ours, where we all open ourselves up to so many and find ourselves saying try and bite the bullet and move on is not a response I personally would throw at her.
In my opinion, it is not befitting the season nor the predicament a person is placed by a repairman.
My heart goes out to Premlata S.Kambli, and her family. Hope she will get back to us here or on the PM.

While it is true that there are bad apples everywhere , not only desis but being a desi I do have an affinity towards another desi , and would give business to another desi in comparision.
It is not racism , just the familiarity aspect ... therefore it hurts more if the desi person cheats .....
Heard a similar story from a Chinese recently who was hurt when a Chinese car salesperson took her 'for a ride' despite the fact that she thought of giving business to him ... Hmmm ...
