Hi Guys,
If someone have any information about How to remove a Load bearing wall or know some Contractor who can do this, plz share that info with me.
What I am trying to do is, in my house on mail level there is a Wall between Living Room and Family Room. The Living room is very large compared to Family room, I want to remove the wall dividing Living and Family Room and create a small partition in Living Room so Family room can be large than living room.. I tried calling few contractors however No luck with that.. The didn't want to work on Load bearing walls..
Thanks

Unless your Architectural floor plan indicates so, you will not know if it is a load bearing wall. The builder will have copy of the floor plan but i am not sure if he will give it to you. As per my knowledge, Load bearing walls are never in the Ground floor and the second floor. Only basement sometimes has load bearing walls.
So in this case it is just a stud wall and you can remove it.
As said before, you need to check the Architectural floor plan and see the structural details for that wall.

If it is double stud then for sure it is load bearing.
It may not be Load Bearing ... but as TK Suggested, you need to get Floor Plan & Structural Details.
My house has a Wall between Family & Living Room. When I bought it, I was thinking of making that a 'Knee Wall'. I used to visit quite often during Construction and soon realised that it will be difficult (if not impossible) to Bring that Wall down. Not because it is Load Bearing but that wall was carrying 'Duct Line' & 'Central Vac Line' to Second Floor. Something that you might need to look at.
