Hello everyone .I was born in India and moved to England as a child and got my British citizenship + British passport in 2000 . I can,t remember but i think i handed my passport to the Indian Consulate in Birmingham but cant find any receipt or certificate of handing it in.
I went to India in 2002 and 2004 and got my India visa from Birmingham .
I moved from Birmingham to Canada in 2005 . I got a 5 yr Indian visa in 2005 from the Indian consulate in Vancouver no problem and have been to India in 2006 and 2008.
I renewed my British passport in Jan 2011 and went to the Indian visa office to apply for an Indian visa .
Problems :
They asked for my British Naturalization certificate which i dont have or even the certificate no etc.
They asked for a surrender of Indian passport certificate which i don,t have as its been 11 yrs since i got my Brit passport. I havn,t even kept any details of the Indian passport.
Have the rules changed for Indian visas as i,ve never had any problems getting visas before.
I have tickets booked to visit India on 22nd Feb . Please provide any advice.
The problem is, you do not have much time to fix your issues one by one.
FAX a letter to the Consulate General ( Visa Section), explain the things in detail, enclose copies of your visas and travel itinerary. If you can get an appointment to talk to them ( I am not sure) that would be good.
They have to come up with an alternative as your case is not uncommon.
