Cd's,
While i fully sympathise with the recent tragedy that happened to a Sri Lankan family a couple of days back, News from the Toronto Star accuse him of having links to LTTE (A banned terrorist organisation). The article also sheds light as to how many Sri Lankan's arrive in Canada and apply for refufee status.

Some interesting snips from the link : (portions cut and pasted. for full story go to the link )
Muralitharan Nadarajah was a member of the Tamil Tigers terrorist group in his native Sri Lanka, according to filings with the Federal Court of Canada
Nadarajah said he and his family fled to Switzerland in the mid-1980s after he was jailed by the Sri Lankan government for about 31 months and tortured because he failed to provide the Sri Lankan military with information about the Tigers. He is currently out of custody on a $150,000 bond, $100,000 of which is in the form of a property lien provided by a friend from his village in Sri Lanka and another $50,000 is a cash bond, again provided by friends.
Nadarajah said he has made ends meet by borrowing heavily and living off the generosity of friends and relatives.
Three of his children, including Birunthan, who died on the weekend in a drowning accident, were born in Switzerland and carry no passport because Switzerland does not grant citizenship based on birth, he said.
Court documents say that Nadarajah "orchestrated fundraising and propaganda activities in support of the LTTE."
He left Switzerland after he had been charged, tried and acquitted of being a member of the criminal organization. He made his way to France and then, using a false identity, landed in Canada.
When he arrived in Montreal, he immediately applied to be a refugee under a fake name, but a month later after an RCMP raid on his home, his identity was discovered and he was arrested.
Nadarajah was ordered out of Canada on June 18, 2002.
TK's questions (left unanswered-which can aid the Canadian govt. to find out as to how many more people are living illegally like this in Canada):
1. How did he flee to Switzerland from Sri Lanka? By using what travel document.
2. What kind of false documents / identity did he use to land in Canada from France? What kind of documents did his wife and children use to land in Canada.According to the news report the children did not have any passports (of sweden) so how did they travel to Canada and what did they do at the immigration counter?
3. How many more supporters of LTTE are still in Canada and not deported?

The soul of his child has just left us and here we are digging very hard into a grieving parents background.
Like it or not, the parents are one of us.
How low can we stoop?
There are time to speak up and time to stay quiet.
There will be ample time for such talk, if you wish.

The drowning has nothing to do with the family's not so good intenions and activities. Looks like the dad knows how to go around the system. Now he is caught.
When they left SriLanka to Swiss, how did they manage to get on the plane? Dont they need a visa to enter Swiss? May be they got a forged one. And to France and to Canada. Wow! Talk abt immigration.
