Just a point. If you are working outside Canada, and if you pay taxes in the host country, you will apply for foreign tax credit when filing returns in Canada.

Better go through the entire tax website in detail. As far as I know you have to pay tax on world wide income so long you are resident, e.g. PR.
Even when non resident you may have to pay tax, even on non Canadian income.
However whatever taxes you pay in other countries you can take credit for the tax paid, and pay that much less tax, if that country has a double tax avoidance treaty with Canada.
