Dear colleagues,
Will someone infrom to me the current situation of INTERNET connection in Toronto and Vancouver regions.
1)Are all rented apts/rooms provided with basic internet connections or broadband cable connections?
2) What are the procedures to apply for the same,if a telephone is present in the rented room?
3)What permissions have to be taken from the landlord before making a connection?
4)What are the costs involved in the above?
5)In Toronto and Vancouver what are the costs (packages)available for installing the net in your room/house?
6)Is there a concept of free net ?Who offers it?
7)How are the net charges calculated from the phone bills and how do you convicne this and pay this to your alndlord or to those from whom you have rented this room/apt?
8)Car-parking is also charged extra in a rented home or not?
9)If one does not even have a telephone in this home how does one go about applying for the same and then installing/obtaining the net connections?
Please furnish to me the details on the above, really quite practical unless the home which one rents/buys has it preinstalled!
Atleast some links for the above may also prove usefull not only for me but most of us reading this query AND a revision for most already settled!

All your questions are too generic.
If you are staying in a 'regular' apartment. {not in somebody's house or basement} then you should have a phone outlet provided(phone jack).
Of course you will have to pay for phone service.
You can use any ISP providers for internet service and of course you do not need anybody's permission. eg. AOL etc which offer unlimited access for a monthly fee.
Or you can get cable modem/DSL etc. That would depend on availability in your area. I don't live in Vancouver or Toronto but I can't imagine too many places in those areas where it won't be available.
Normally for your ISP, for your access you will have a local number so you really should not be getting charged extra as long as you have an unlimited local calling phone package.
All this can be arranged for once y ou call the local phone comp/cable provider etc.
Parking is almost always paid. however you can also get free parking in a lot of apartments so it really depends
