Hi Seniors,
My PR Card renewal application went into Secondary Review in May 2017, I am now out of Canada. Can some one advise how much time will be required to get it renewed? Also which is best way to return Canada , PRTD or crossing land border through US?
The information that you have provided to us here under this is..: That you applied for your PR Renewal, Six months prior to expiry. It takes SIX FULL MONTHS for its renewal and the re-issue of the new PR cards, which when they do, you will have to PICK THEM UP IN PERSON and return the old ones at that time. You left Canada on an extended vacation and now want to re-enter back and continue where you left off.
The best way to get back in is by applying for a PRTD. This PRTD establishes that you are a Landed Immigrant into Canada and you are allowed to re-enter into Canada. That is what you must do to get back in immediately.
Your PR Application entering into Secondary has NO implications NONE WHAT SO EVER into your not getting a NEW PR CARD. Since you have legally stayed within this country and fulfilled the TWO year requirements and then some more, you will get your PRTD and all they will ask you is to substantiate with Lease agreements and NOA's from the CRA. (In short it is the Income Taxes you paid and the Notice OF Assessments for the years you worked and the copies that you have in your possession, from the Canada Revenue Agency.)
If you want your PRTD in a hurry as you will be running out of your Health Benefits soon, (You loose them after SEVEN months) so, try and get in before the due date, and to do this, attach the copies of lease agreements for your stay and also the NOA's and apply there and pay the fees of $50. the last I knew as the fees and you will get the same very shortly from the Canadian Embassy there where you reside. Do it soon.
Good Luck.
FH.
