You may have meant this in jest, but don't agree with the condescending opinion on women's ability with electronics.
You are taking things now into different tangent , like a news channel does :-) .
I 'll steadfast my opinion , when it comes to connecting laptop to TV using hdmi, then searching for video streaming of serials and then watching some saas bahu or shastri sisters like serial , and troubleshooting midway and killing that one stubborn pop up blocker which refuse to quit , thats way too much for the women who just finished her grueling day. Its not about their abilities or understanding of electronics , its about the willingness and ease.

What're you, 85? The explanation's even worse. Women use the interwebs everyday as far as I'm aware, after their "grueling' day.
Anyways, back to the topic - you keep the HDMI port connected. Get a cheap dedicated computer. So then, you turn on the computer and TV and voila! It just works. Then you just browse to your favorite site. But like you said, not for everybody.
Both BL & SH are right in their own ways.
If a person is tek savvy he may be better off by connecting a computer and a laptop... In fact I know some who have connected a laptop to a Smart TV.
However if a person is not tek savvy ( and that may be independent of age) have to rely on user friendly mechanisms .. I have not used a Smart TV but I am assuming it might be more user friendly although limited in use as members have pointed out.
Now back to the OP s point please -- I d suggest either get in touch with the seller and ask him for a demo or visit Future Shop and tell them you wish to buy a Smart TV - when they show it to you , ask them to demonstrate it ... Or you might want to google how to use your smart TV ... brand ...I m sure information will come up.. If you can wait till the weekend I can check it out and post it here.
Any other pointers guys -- Does any one use a smart TV and can share how to use it here please ..

I asked OP to post the Model no. Based upon that, it's easier to advise re. the features and navigation. Also, what does he/she wants to watch specifically. Is it Youtube, Netflix, or any available Desi App on the TV, i.e. Yupp TV, Direct TV, Dish TV, etc.? Normally, the navigation is pretty easy, and as long as you master the art of pressing top, down, right, left buttons on the remote, then you should be good. There's no rocket science about it. However, using DLNA/uPnP is another ball game altogether.
For a rather ease of use, can I suggest to buy a Chromecast instead?
Hi Febpreet,

Whenever you experience joy, peace, security, equanimity or purity, it is only because you are aligned with ALMIGHTY.
Do you have any Desi app on the TV? If not, then there's no way you can watch Desi channels. Please stick to the Cable, or as said before hook up your laptop to the TV.
DLNA/uPnP is the standard by which you can wireless stream the videos/pictures/music from your computer, phone, and/or tablet to the TV. However, the only content you can stream is the files that reside locally on your computer. Anyhow! Please disregard, as this is not what you're looking for. Didn't want to confuse you further. Just take it as an informational power .

Thanks Febpreet .
I will also look up this weekend but I doubt if there may be any desi apps as I have a friend who connects laptop to his Smart TV for desi programs.
