Hello,
I have PR card valid till oct.2016. I am staying in Saudi Arabia right now.
I am supposed to move into Canada by oct.2014 so that I stay 730 days to renew my PR card.
I have some personal problems for which I need some extra time. Is it possible to ask/apply to immigration people legally for extending PR validity for 6 months. In this case, I can then move to Canada 6 mths later by march 2015 rather than by oct.2014.
This is imp for me. Do help me with vital leads on the issue.

Very logical question. But NO DICE...With Government regulations, they go by the book and also stick to their guns. I have also heard stories here that the I.O. let some one in during the last month of his five year stay. He was away for 4 yrs and 11 months. (But he did not make any requests prior to his arrival.)
So, you are on your own. Hope it works out well for you. Take a chance. And keep us in the loop.

1. What does this mean: " WAIT AND SEE IF THEY WILL EXTEND THE PR REQUIREMENTS ALSO TO TWO OUT OF SIX YRS."
Is is something abt new policies?
2. Will applying officially thru an immigration lawyer help my issue?

1) Currently, you have to fill in TWO years out of Five to comply with the PR renewal requirements. Who knows what the rules will be in SIX months. Hence the wait and see, which you are doing anyway...
2) Immigration Lawyers can only defend you in such cases here, AFTER THE EVENT occuring. The amount of money and the agony that you will go through is not worth it. So, use the same for your travels and living expenses TO CANADA. Come down here before the end of the month and delegate your personal problems where ever they are occuring to some lawyer who can help you. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run. Come down to Canada as early as you can and leave your problems and the worries there with the family, friends and a lawyer. Go back and forth as many times as you really have to. They drag their BACK ENDS there in India for years. All of this is written here ONLY IF YOU WANT TO MAKE CANADA YOUR NEW HOME.
