This appears to be a precedence . Locking political party related threads ...
Though I have not been active on those threads but could not understand why the moderators locked those threads ...
We do have charcha sections for India and back home and it is up to the members what they like discussing as long as it is with in the ambit of decency ...
Why lock those threads ? I am sorry but is it because rising of AAP spoils BJP / Narendra Modi's chances in the election ? ... Like it did in Delhi and that these threads create awareness about AAP ....
Like it or not AAP appears to be a revolution in India today ... and spoils other parties' chances esp BJP .... Whether the movement sustains or not - is to be seen in future , but it surely spoils other parties' chances with the popularity it is gathering ...
If we had similar threads on Narendra Modi / BJP , would they also have been locked ?
How do we determine when is it 'too much' ..If the members are interested in discussing a topic , I thought CD has always been a free forum to allow them to discuss ....
Are there any other reasons why those threads have been locked ?

Fido.
I was about to post this yesterday, but was receiving some kind of 'SQL' error message. Anyhow! Here goes my rant on locking AAP threads.
Thanks Fido to raise it as well.
My question to the Mods/Admins of this site that locked the thread discussing about Indian Politics in general, and AAP in specific. I know I am just a poster and this site is a private property of the owner, where the views are moderated, the latter of which is greatly appreciated.
So, is it just a sheer coincidence that one of the Mods was against AAP in the Post, and another has a synonym that SEEMS to get himself/herself aligned with the other Party? I hardly know, and just assuming. I know I shouldn't. Parden my language, but the locking doesn't appear to be moderated, unbiased, and democratic. Asking to concentrate on Canadian issues (really?) doesn't quite gel well; and at most a laughable excuse. Do you want the posters to be devoid of any India specific discussions from now on? Distinct people always have diverse and contrasting views that are healthy for any discussion. However, commenting that the discussion isn't going anywhere, and there's too much of one sidedness (i.e. tilting in favour of AAP) is amateurish at best. May be we, the AAP supporters are construed as being 'Paid'. That's always the last resort to end any discussion. Nothing surprising.
I don't mind the thread being locked out, as it would save me from my well deserved time. I neither have anything else to add there as well, because the result of one Party's performance is/will all to see. Words hardly matter, but actions do weigh. My contention is about stopping people from airing their views by abruptly/forcebly closing out the discussion. I also didn't see if any of posters was either rude, so as to warrant this action. Just different viewpoints. Furthermore, this very action by one of the Mods who was airing the opposing views is quite obvious.
Last. I learnt from my life experiences that one should never oppose 'the Powers that be' for the possible adverse implications. But, I just did and questioned your actions as they didn't look justified to me. I stand out being the first to strongly criticize any abuses, violence being hurled at others, but I didn't find either of these in the Posts that were locked. Hence, questioning the stance.
We come to CD to share our thoughts and the beauty of the forum is that people share their thoughts freely helping each other when needed and discussing things close to their heart .
It has been an excellent medium to express ourselves with in limits of decency and avoiding rough language and without any vested interest ..If a thread is locked for above reasons , it is understandable but locking a thread because it is being subscribed to by what members wish to discuss and discuss more of .. is not understandable and has never happened before on CD.
There is no restraint on other topics to be discussed and they are being discussed ..But this is the burning topic of the hour and hence garners more discussions / posts .... and that I thought was the purpose of the forum.
If however the threads have been locked because they do not help Narendra Modi and we are by any chance regional ising / politicizing the forum , that is something which is hard to comprehend.
I m myself an admire of NaMo and the BJP but that does not make me against AAP ..Lets see what their bag has got .... in the end that s what democracy is about .

Fido.
agree with Fido and febpreet.
What's the rational behind locking the AAP thread ? It make no sense to lock the thread. Everyone has a right to support any of the political parties. Whats is the purpose of "Our Native Country" Section on Canadian Forum?
If someone has any concern/issue with someone else, let’s bring it up instead of locking up the thread. Suppression is not a solution of any problem. We must have tolerance and should listen others views. Let’s discuss what has caused the thread to be locked up.

As a former mod on this site (and generally a Modi supporter), I was a bit surprised by the locking as well. With due respect to mods on the site (who no doubt have a tough job while volunteering their time), I think the locking warranted a better explanation if there is one.
If not, the thread should be re-opened in the spirit of open discussion, with the ask to everyone to stay away from personal attacks (and blocking posters who do not comply).

Are you there?
AAP, Modi and Indian Politics is being discussed in chals, mohallas, malls, university/college campuses, IITs, IIMs, offices, homes , online forums, clubs virtually everywhere. This is election season after all and advent of AAP will remain hot desi topic till elections are over.
Admins had a choice to change the Title of the threads (again ! ) removing the word 'AAP' and making it generic. Get it MODIfied ! we all would have approved it but stifling the flow of thoughts on topic was unlike CD.
Thanks to the moderators for the wonderfull job except this one. Disconcerning is the reason given as "discussing AAP being a 'non canadian' issue". We discussed non canadian Obama & US elections, world economy, currency, gold, wall street , dooms day without getting locked out !! Some policy change in 2014 ?
