No there is NO official time line as such.
But the way these guys work, if you delay it too much, they might physically lose your documents..so don't delay much.
That whole putting the OCI sticker on the Canadian PP , takes another 10 days or so.
So you still have 2 more visits , one to go & give your Canadian PP and then to go and pick up your Canadian PP with the OCI sticker attached. I DON'T know why they CAN'T just do it over the counter i.e sticking the OCI sticker..now that everything is processed & ready to go.
Typical Indian Red Tape & Bureaucracy..no regard for customer's time.
Plus when the Canadian PP is ready for pickup with the OCI sticker on it, there is no way of tracking it or knowing it. You just have to take a chance & go there after 10 days or so , hoping its ready for pickup.

Do you want to take a chance with Visa on Arrival ? What when you arrive at the airport for minor things , they refuse your Visa ..are you going to spend thousands in wasted plane tkts & a spoiled trip ?
Getting a visa over here, when you have time is hard enough..with all the red tape & bureaucracy..and you want to trust these guys with VISA on arrival ??..Do you trust them that much ? I would never take that chance with them.

Are you travelling next week to India ?? Are you travelling on a VISA then ?
It will take at least 10 days for these guys to stamp the OCI sticker on your Canadian PP , so don't take any chance with them..when you come back go there ASAP & submit your Canadian PP.
Keep all your travel records with you , just in case they need to know , what took you so long.

Thanks for ur response- yea I already had the tourist visa stamped since I didnt want to take a chance knowing how these guys function. I think I will submit my pp for stickers after I come back. But what about the oci booklet - should I go pick that up? There is always a possibility of them losing it right?

Both are given at the same time and together. They Won't give it to you seperately.
OCI booklet is basically a joke. The more important thing is the OCI sticker on your PP .
Make sure you take both with you, when you travel.
If your Canadian PP with the OCI sticker expires , still carry the old Canadian PP with the OCI sticker and the new Canadian PP and the OCI booklet with you.

What should be entered in the place for Canada Citizenship Acquisition Method?
I migrated to Canada as a permanent resident in the Family Class Skilled Worker category.
I am confused between the choice of 'NATURALIZATION' and 'REGISTRATION'.
