Hi,
This is the first time i am writing on this forum.
I have recently got an immigration visa and intend to move Toronto on May 2012. I have asked my friends who stays there for long time to find an one bed room apartment for my family. He recently found an apartment in 30 denton ave (Cambridge Place Apartments) building. When i search online about this building i am confused about the quality of this building. Could someone help me to find out about the building quality (security, cleanness, bed bugs etc..)?
Thanks in advance for your great help.
We are close friends with a family who has been living in this building for the past 8-9 years and visit them a a few times every year, so I feel qualified to give an opinion
This is a relatively older building around 30 years old and is around 24-25 stories. 60% of the families are Bangladeshi, 20% are Pakistani, 10% would be Indian and the rest would be mixed. There is a frequent pest problem (cockroaches) and our friends have to do their own pest control 2-3 times a year. Security seems to be okay, although I have heard of some break-in incidents.
The biggest advantage of this building is that it is 5 minute walk to Victoria Park subway system, so it is a very convenient location. There is a child care facility located in the premises. As Vic Park-Danforth area is also known as mini-Bangladesh, you will find many several South Asian groceries. It is a relatively low-income, downmarket neighbourhood.
Now don't ask me why my friends still contnue to live over there. That's their business
Ohh thanks a lot. Of course you are very much qualified to give this excellent opinion.
Thanks again. This is what i was looking for. Good to know that this building has one positive thing, they have only cockroach's no bed bugs!!!
You cannot be sure about bed bugs not present , they need no visa to enter anywhere !
I am not at all qualified but based on description by the freak,
The effectively positive thing is nearness of subway. As a new immigrant with no driving license and in a shocked state after knowing about insurance rates subway is the best bet. it will help you a lot in job finding, reaching places on low cost and will keep a check on home budget.
Have subway map or the bus routes in hand when you are looking for place to live.
welcome !
Thanks san-hugo for such helpful tips.
