Hi Everybody,

I need help on finding our first apartment in Canada.I am looking around Fairview Mall and found few of these:

2600 Donmills Rd.
2775 Donmills Rd.
65 Forest Manor Rd.
121 Forest Parkway

Any pest problem(Cockroaches,Mice and Bedbugs) in these places?Any good Fumigation services? How long would it be effective for pests after fumigation?A year or more?Though there are many.but really worrying about pest problem. How do you deal with pest situation while living in Apts.?
Can anybody suggest good building esp. Pest free in these areas?
Any Special places which has separate swimming and Sports areas for teen girls and women?

Actually if any Desi Shops selling esp. Rotis at the nearby location then please reply..it will provide me good info about the area and building .

Any inputs from seniors would be appreciated.

Google for Police Reports and Bed Bug Registry. Also look for the age of the buildings.

YOU KNOW WHERE I GOT IT FROM.

BUT...: THIS REPORT IS FIVE YEARS OLD

2600 Don Mills Rd
Toronto, ON M2J

Found 1 report:

Robert2010 on 09/13/2010

On August 2010, the superintendent put a sign on every floor: “Please cover your Mattress. This is due to a recent report of bedbug spread in the city of Toronto”. On the back the building we could see some mattresses and coaches that looked not very used to be thrown out. I decided to check out my own stuff, and I found small bed bag colony in the corners of my mattress. Now I know that the marks on my leg and back are not “allergies” as I though. I already gave them my 2 months notice

and I am now moving out, loosing a lot of money as I have to through my mattress, couch and other furniture. The superintendent is a cranky lady who does nothing, but to find excuses for everything. When approached about this issue, she just said, she never heard about any other tenant complaining about this in the building. But then, how she explain her “sign” about the “spread in the city of Toronto” or the furniture on the back or the' store

125 parkway forest is disgusting. Cockroaches galore, the elevators never work and the superintendent Jack is a pig he stinks like body odor all the time. When you get on the elevator with him you want to puke plus he leaves a stench anywhere he walks for long periods of time throughout the building. They dont fix anything either. Stay away from this building or you will regret ever moving in.

125 parkway forest is full of cockroaches and the apartments are not at all clean.Management dosen't do any repair work and the monthly rent is too much..Pls stay away from this building....

2011/2012
We were dooped into renting this place because of the cheap rent and assurance of no pests. The day we moved in our place was filled with cockroaches and we were stuck for the long haul. The next day we not only woke up with cockroaches on us, but our legs and back had tiny bites all.over them. We had lived there a year and had numerous pest control sprays and other traps put out and it never ended.
Beware of this group of buildings run by metcap, they are full of pests and superint

My boyfriend and I have lived here for a year and have been struggling with cockroach infestations since the very second we moved in. We didn't look up reviews of this building before signing our lease, and that was a big mistake. The apartments are spacious and airy and apart from the bug problem it's a fine place to live, but the cockraches are enough to drive us out. We have tried every tactic possible to get rid of them on our own, and have also had the place sprayed twice. After the first

125 Parkway forest drive is totally infected with all kind of bugs from cockroaches to bedbugs. please forward this to Ontario health they should tell the tenant upfront about the bugs problem they are charging like anything and not good enough to clean their buidlings. Garbage chutes are stinking like anything. Please stay away from metcap properties.

This building is infested with all kinds of bugs: from cockroaches to bedbugs, etc. Do yourself a favor and don't move in!!!

Optimus Kryme on 05/18/2009

For about a month now my girlfriend had been getting suspicious bites every time she had waken up from sleep. Funny enough me and my son were not getting any. One Sunday we woke up after my girlfriend had complained of more bites. We lifted the pillow and found a sustainable amount of these disgusting bedbugs. We pulled the bed out and found more of them crawling along the baseboards. This building has always been bad since we been here because we had horrible cockroach problem before as we

Five years is a very long time in the life of an Apartment Building. In those FIVE years lot of improvements would have been done to that building. But the RENTAL Rate will tell you how old/new the building is or better Google for the area and the date the building was constructed. My feeling is that building is 60 years old or thereabout.

Most of them will certainly have a few problems. Also some of the buildings are prone to burglary. So, Avoid them. Also, do not leave much cash in your place. Always leave it in a Bank, your Jewelry, Cash and all of the valuables, such as your Passports, Citizenship papers and anything that is precious to you in a Safety Deposit Vault in the Bank. Because once it is lost, your life will just turn topsy-turvy overnight. So, be careful.

You are in the Jane & Finch and Keele & Finch area.

This is a very bad area, so don't live in this area..or hangout in this area. Just go to your school & get on the TTC bus & come home ASAP. If you have night classes travel in a group & quickly go to the bus stop , get on the bus and go home.

Lot of black people & gang members in this area , so avoid them at any cost.

As far as a room is concerned expect the price to be $ 400 to $ 500 per month. You will be sharing the washroom , laundry ( washing machine & drying machine ) & Kitchen with other people.

Don't get into this daily meals bull shit ..you are a grown ass man & a bachelor..cook your own food ..and get some groceries from a grocery store ..it will be cheaper, faster & more convenient..than some stupid food from some Gujju family or some other desi family.

This is NOT India where you think the Gujju family you are staying with is going to treat you like their son & you are going to treat them like your parents..and the woman who is going to cook for you is going to be like your mother..and you will get " MAA KE HAATH KA KHAANA " ...life is NOT a Hindi picture.

You should eat your own Dhokla , THEPLA, KHICHDI, SUBZI , KADHI, UNDHIYU, BHAJIYA, FARSAAN, KHAMAN, KHANDVI, MUTHIA, KHAKRA, CHASS , LASSI

Make your own Gujju Thali yourself .

They are just going to keep you there for rent & you are just going to stay there for accomodation.

1. Heating - Every house has heating in Canada through heating vents & by law its included just like water. Now some cheap DESI family might lower the THERMOSTAT temperature to keep their heating bills down & you might freeze a bit..that's a different thing.

2. Internet : Usually they will have Wi-Fi in their house. You won't really get to use their computer or printer. So have your own laptop and access their Internet through FREE Wi-Fi . Don't use their printer to print anything . DESIS are cheap people & don't like their $ 40 dollar cartridge or 10 cent paper to get over bcoz of you..they are VERY KANJOOS people.

TK will explain it to you..how KANJOOS ( Stingy ) desi people are.

3. There will usually be a TTC bus stop close to your house ..if you live close to a TTC subway station even better. The TTC bus & TTC train ( aka Subway in Canada or Metro in India ) ..are ALL connected & run by TTC. You don't pay separate fares for them..the same monthly pass or ticket/transfer applies to them. Most bsuses go inside the subway station for connection.

In India Bus & train is always separate & run by diff organisations & you have to pay separately for them

4. Laundry: Usually there will be a washer & dryer in the basement . People generally only do laundry once a week over here ..usually on weekends. You don't sweat much over here & there is NOT much dirt, dust , grease , filth, heat etc over here..so you don't need to wash your clothes daily like India..as your clothes don't smell & get dirty much.

Do not use the desis laundry detergent..get your own for about $ 4.00 ..it will give you 30 washes :) . If you do laundry too much , the cheap GUJJU family will SCOLD you as they will think you are wasting their utilities like water & hydro ( electricity ).

Lot of Gujjus here..don't forget to visit BAPS MANDIR - Swami Narayan temple at 427 & Finch..you WON'T get free food over there.

But you can get free food at SIKH Gurudwaras at LANGAAR .

1 year will go fast , you will be busy studying & doing assignments & term work. You will at least have 5 courses per semester..the work load will be very heavy..so you won't have much time for anything else.
