If my company was not there, many hotels, cab companies and airlines would have closed long back. It would not be in Feb. 2012 that the woes would have been there.
Just to give you an example. for the year 2011, my company (having just 15 employees eligible for airline travel, but then our consultants air trips to meet us are also more-We fly in consultants from USA also) spent Rs. 56 lakhs on air travel, hotel stays, food, cab etc...
But domestic air travel prices are damn cheap.
I read that at an average, airlines loose Rs. 1200 on every ticket. That is mainly because all rates are pegged to Air India's ticket rate, and Air India is tax payer funded and hence they donot care to increase fees.
