I signed for Vonage World Plan. It is pretty good. Under fair usage policy you get 3000 minutes per month to call anywhere in Canada,US, India. No PC needed. Just a broadband connection. I am very happy with the service. Lots of features are given for free... You can view , monitor all the call you make online, sends VM over email.. etc... I like it. They are currently giving the device for free. Under promotion you get this service for 19.99 for the first 2 months then it goes up to 29.99 per month. Which I dont mind at all..

Also, you can carry it anywhere in the world and you get to keep you local canada number as long as you have internet. I can also use it when I go for trips, vacations to call arround as usually most place have internet now..

Great deal, good service..

These are the flip sides of Vonage. Vonage uses a third party for number transfers. Transferring out a number from Vonage is going to be tricky. If you cancel Vonage within 1 to 2 years depending on your date of activation, there is cancellation fee. 911 feature is also different and slower than traditional phone lines.

If someone is not willing to sign 1 yr contract than opt for Vonage US and get Canadian virtual no . It will cost few bucks extra though and no 911 services .

Not sure about others but FD does not give the 1 month money back policy which is provided online @ MJ site .

Another thing MJ does not seem to work with W2K ... I have a W2K PC which I was considering but apparently thats a limitation . XP works fine it seems .

If the call quality of MJ / Freephoneline is good , there is no reason why one should go for another land line service ....

If one doesn't have to call US often , I d say Freephoneline has an advantage of not needing a PC running 24 * 7 ..

And Acanac internet cable @ $36 does not need a dry loop .
