What is the Renewal PR validity?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You apply well in advance of its expiry, say about 60 days prior to its expiry. This is presuming that you would have complied with the stay here within Canada of 730 days out of the five years. The entry date is stamped on your card. Five years start from that date.
If you need the same in a hurry for travels, then, you submit your application together with a copy of the travel document and your travel itinerary and with an additional fee of $50 to reach them well in advance of your travels, so as to make sure that you do receive the card in person. The renewal card needs to be picked up at one of the centers that is close to you. They will tell you where it is located. They will take your old card and give you the new one. Do carry other photo ID with you for the ease of secondary identification.
Validity of your PR Card is FIVE Years as noted there in.
Freddie.
Currently the renewal time is 172 days for your card, so if you are not in a hurry apply and then wait till they send you the notice to pick it up. Now you know.
