After going to VFS few times, I finally found the proper way to arrange the OCI application and thought of sharing it with our fellow desi’s. Below is the example of Mr. John and his wife with 2 minor children (both born in Canada). Read the Don’t Do list at the end of the page (very important)

A. Part A
1. Main Applicant: Mr. John Patt Part A duly signed
2. Applicant's Spouse: Mrs. Marta Patt Part A duly signed
3. Applicant’s Son: Alan Patt Part A duly left thumb impression
4. Applicant’s Daughter: Alicia Patt Part A duly right thumb impression

B. Part B
5. Mr. John Patt Part B (one application for all Patt’s)


C. Other Copies
6. Mr. John Patt’s
a. Current Canadian Passport Copy
b. Canadian Passport Copy (If any)
c. Recent Indian Passport Copy (If any)
d. Landed (stamped) Indian Passport Copy
e. Canadian Landed Paper
f. Canadian Citizenship Certificate

7. Mrs. Marta Patt’s
a. Current Canadian Passport Copy
b. Canadian Passport Copy (If any)
c. Recent Indian Passport Copy (If any)
d. Landed (stamped) Indian Passport Copy
e. Canadian Landed Paper
f. Canadian Citizenship Certificate

8. Alan Patt’s
a. Current Canadian Passport Copy
b. Previous Canadian Passport Copy (If any)
c. PIO Card Copy (If any) {First & Last Pages only}
d. Birth Certificate Full One (not the small card)


9. Alicia Patt’s
a. Current Canadian Passport Copy
b. Previous Canadian Passport Copy (If any)
c. PIO Card Copy (If any) {First & Last Pages only}
d. Birth Certificate Full One (not the small card)

D. Preparation & Submission

10. How many copies / sets do I require?
a. Get 2 original sets for item 1 to 4
b. Get 1 Copy of the original set with photos and sign/ thumb impression.
c. Get 3 sets of copies for item 5 to 9

11. How do I Arrange the document?
a. Set I - Original set A (1 to 4), Copies of B(5) and C(6 to 9)
b. Set II - Original set A (1 to 4), Copies of B(5) and C(6 to 9)
c. Set III - Copies set A (1 to 4), B(5) and C(6 to 9)

12. Originals to be submitted along with the Application(s)
a. Mr. John Patt’s
i. Canadian Passport
ii. Indian Passport(s)
b. Mr. Marta Patt’s
i. Canadian Passport
ii. Indian Passport(s)
c. Alan Patt’s
i. Canadian Passport
ii. PIO Card
iii. Birth Certificate
d. Alicia Patt’s
i. Canadian Passport
ii. PIO Card
iii. Birth Certificate

E. Do & Dont’s
13. Don’t’s
a. Do not copy 2 pages of passport in one sheet, its not acceptable
b. Do not make a copy on both sides of any form or other documents
c. Do not have any glue particles on your photograph while pasting it.
d. Do not Staple your photograph

14. Do’s
a. All applicants do sign on the Part A’s 2 sets
b. Main applicant / Spouse sign on Part B too
c. Keep a copy set (set III) of the documents submitted
d. Get the Receipt and store it at a proper location
e. Get copies for all the Originals submitted for verification

Thank you for this information. It is helpful though the poll might require rejigging to help people answer. Not sure what the second question in the poll is about. Also do you mean no glue on the front of the photo? I thought the photos were glued to the form..

The Second poll question was
"Will you be interested to know the procedure for Indian Visa". due to formatting issues it posted differently.

You are right the photos were glued to the form but lot of times a little bit of glue might go up on the picture..(happened with me). Which is not acceptable by VFS.

Reply:
"c" means to make sure that no glue particles are up on the picture while pasting it. "d" is not to staple the picture. I hope its clear now. sorry for the confusion.

What if Birth certificate is not available?
Any other alternative?

I am not sure of the alternative, The reason for birth certificate is to prove that you are Canadian Citizen by Birth. You can check with VFS.
