Hi,
I am planning to apply for a PIO card for my daughter who was born in Canada (has canadian passport). I have a Canadian PR and an Indian passport.
I was wondering if I need to send a Citizenship certificate and a card if I send my daughter's passport. Can anyone confirm?
Here are the instructions from the website:
* Canadian passport of the applicant (which should be valid for minimum 6 months) and photocopy. Applications for children born to Indian parents in Canada must be accompanied by
(i) the child's Canadian passport,
(ii) original birth certificate mentioning the names of the parents and
(iii) at least one parent's Indian passport and PR Card and Landing Paper and a copy of all these documents
* Citizenship Certificate and Citizenship Card --> Is this required for a minor who is born in Canada and has a canadian passport?
Thanks in advance.

I applied for my daughter's PIO recently. You need your Canadian born child's long birth certificate, passport and photos.
Hi All,
I recently became Canadian citizen and am in the process of applying for PIO card.
Here are a few questions regarding the PIO card application requirements.
1) Cancelled/expired Indian passport of the applicant (or anyone of his/her parents or grand parents) photocopy of the relevant pages and the Landing paper/ PR card along with photocopy.
My question: After taking the oath of citizenship, the Canadian PR card is taken away and a citizenship card is issued. So, is the above requirement to produce PR card with photocopy valid?
2) For sections 13 and 14 of the PIO form, in section 13 we are expected to furnish indian passport details of parents' born/resident in India and for section 14 we are expected to furnish proof of residence for parents/spouse.
My question: What is acceptable proof of residence? Should we give proof of residence of spouse or parents? This is ambiguous in the form.
Any responses to my questions will be very helpful.
Thanks,
VD

Hi rajcanada,
I opted for PIO only because of the processing time relative to OCI.
Regarding the questions, I clarified with the helpline for Indian Consulate that for sections 13 and 14 of the PIO card application form, the applicant's passport and other details are sufficient. Parents and/or spouse details are not required.
Initially the wording of the sections seemed confusing.
Thanks,
VD
for Indian passport parents (without PR and without citizenship), is it required to submit original passport of parents along with Canada born child's PIO applicaiton?
