Hey Guys,
I had a few questions. I came to Canada with my parents and did my landing, we did a family immigration so all of us became permanent residents.
However, only I stayed back and can probably apply for my citizenship next year. I just wanted to know what the process would be to call my parents? Also their permanent residency would expire next year. Would that be a problem in me calling them on my sponsorship? Could someone please advise me on the same so I can begin the process as soon as possible.
Thanks!
if your parents are already landed permanent residents and their residency is still valid, why do you need to sponsor them??
My bad, I didn't explain well.
They won't be staying/ have not stayed in Canada for 2 years to maintain their PR status. So they will loose it because of not staying the sufficient number of days.

Hey,
Their PR card will expire in the next 2 years and they won't have stayed in Canada for a minimum of 730 days.
What would be the process for them to enter the country after that time? Would they have to re-apply for immigration? I do not mind initiating the sponsorship application from now itself, but would it conflict as they already have a PR for the next 2 years ..
Thanks for your reply buddy, appreciate the advice!
Since, they are already permanent residents with valid PRs for the next 2 years, you cannot sponsor them until they are deemed to have abandoned their permanent residency.
so you have to wait for another 2 years, then for another 4-5 years for their sponsorship to go though. Why don't you call them right now so that they can fulfill their residency? They can leave the country for another three years, if they so wish.
I am confused as to why you want them to give up their permanent residency, spend another 2K to sponsor them and wait for 4-5 years for the application to be processed?
