Good day to you,

I just have a few questions and I would be grateful if you can answer them:

1) Is the US Immigration system linked to the Canadian system..or is it seperate?

2) If an application for visitor visa to canada is rejected, does this affect the chances of having a sponse sponsor you? The visitor visa was applied for 2 months after the date of marriage.

3) As the sponsored applicant, would it be necessary to show a good educational, income and employment background? Or is this unnecessary as it is the sponsor's profile that will be checked out?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Dianne,

The immigration system itself is entirely separate.
However, the security agencies often share data.
For example, if someone had committed an offense in the US and did not reveal that while applying for Canadian immigration, he/she is in for a nasty shock !

Should not have any affect - although may depend on *why* the visa was rejected.
It only means that one cannot use the inland sponsorship route, but consular based spousal sponsorship should be A-OK.

These are not necessary in the spousal case.

Hope this helps some.
