I have been browsing through the various reviews be CD experts, I have narrowed down on few requirements
1. Anticipated Monthly driving 2500km 75% highway 25% city.
2. Balance between running cost and initial cost - can spend upto 20K initially
2a. Prefer 1-2 yr old models which are good value for money and one gets "new like car at 2nd hand price".
3. Prefer hybrid since non-hybrid 2nd hand re-sell prices will crash by the time I plan to sell this car.
4. Prefer Toyota, Nissan, Honda. I am a fan of Hyundai Santa Fe/Tuscan so open to suggestions.
5. Tips on insurance purchase - welcome
Based on the above, can some expert recommend Camry hybrid / Highlander hybrid etc.
Kindly provide the calculation (Maths) to compare Lease / Purchase options.
Last but not the least a big thanks for your response (in anticipation)
For 20K you will neither get the Camry hybrid nor the Highlander hybrid
Highway fuel economy for Hybrid and non Hybrid cars are the same.
25% city/year is 7500Km.
Hybrid = 13KMpl (because of cold winters here Hybrid is not as fuel efficient as rated)
Regular = 9Kmpl
so you will need 833 - 577 = 256l of extra gas per year for non hybrid. rounding off to 260 and $1.25/litre = 325$ savings per year.
Difference in price of a LE camry and Hybrid camry after rebates is atleast 5000$ if not more. So you are looking at >10 yrs to recover your money
Plus you will need to do battery replacement in a few years which is expensive.
If you want fuel economy get the VW Jetta TDI.
Highlander only makes sense if you want more space
my 2 cents

Live and Let Live
I have narrowed down my choice to
1. Prefer 36 months lease
2. Prefer Camry 4V sedan 2009 model
Any recent buyers, or what base price should one be looking at is it good idea to go for a demo car with few hundred kms on the odometer?
Please advise?
I find the honda accord 2008 is much cheaper maybe they wan to dum the inventory before they get 2009 models. In Canada which car is expensive accord or camry? and which has more resale value?
Thanks
