Hi Friends,
Cheers to all for the amazing suggestions and help provided on this forum..!!You guys are doing an amazing job!
I would need your expert advise in a situation that I am facing.
1) We bought a Honda LX 2008 a couplke of months back on loan at a honda showroom in USA.Unexpectedly we received our canadaian PR last month and we are planning to move to canada. The following are the questions i have regarding transport of car to canada
1)Can we transport our car to canada since it is on loan and the car title does not belong to us?
2) Are there any banks in canada which may be willing to transfer the car loan?
3) Which immigration department either in USA/Canada help us anwer these questions?
4) Would selling off the car here be a good option and probably we will plan on buying a used car after we land in canada(toronto)?

Has anyone in this forum immigrated from usa to toronto/any other place in canada...I would like to touch base with you for details.

Appreciate all your help in answering my questions...

Thanks a ton

1) It is a very good Car. Please see if it complies with the Canadian Standards as regards Safety and Emission. Talk to the Dealer from whom you bought it. If he will take it back, then, you are off the hook. Take a hit only if it calls for.

1) This is for the second question. You have to own the car and need to show total ownership.
2) It depends upon your credit rating here in Canada. (Which is nil) But you may have enough deposits in savings and investments to cover the cost here. Do you have a referral from your bank in USA to their branch here in Canada. Get a letter of introduction from them. It might help.
3)CBSA. The Canadian Border Service Agency. (Customs)
4) It will be a good alternative. That will also take care of the burden of transporting it to Canada. But you are the judge of it.

There has been a lot of discussions on this subject and a few have been imported to the best of my knowledge. : http://www.canadiandesi.ca/read.php?TID=14563

Hope this helps a little.

Freddie.

Thanks ftfl and Jack for your inputs...at this point going by what i hear, it seems virtually impossible for us to get the car title on our name(i.e paying off 25 k)...so the best option in hand is to sell it off...but we probabaly will tkae a hit on a couple of thousand dollars...:((

Thanks for the links...i did go thru them and got a brief idea what is what...

cheers!!
