Hello everyone!
I am in the process of landing in Canada soon. I would like to know if it is necessary for all the members of the family to land at the same time? I am planning to land first being the primary applicant and then bring my family after a few months will this cause problems?
Thanks in advance for your time and information.

Don't think all the family members need to land together.
It makes logical sense for you to come, check the waters, and then get the rest of the family over. It also gives you time to get used to the place, get introduced to the different culture and makes the transition for the family (arriving later) a bit easier
All the best!
urvashi, the primary applicant is required to be be present while landing, so I guess its you. Pls check the date on the visa for the rest of your family. They will have to land beforeb that date expires. It is better you are here first to analyse, and get familiar with the brand new culture.. try to do most of your research at home on the internet before you depart. It is good to print out some of the details like schooling, banking, accomodation and transport. If you have a close collegue. you may request him /her to help initially.
Remember too much dependency on desi's can be expensive and bad tasting sometimes.......rest you know
A related question.
Assuming that the principal applicant lands first, and the dependants follow later, how do the dependents 'prove' that the principal applicant has already landed?
Do they need to show any documents related to principal applicant, or the immigration computer would already have a record of the principal applicant's landing?

the principal applicant will provide you the address, phone etc where she/he will be staying after the person is settled, the rest of the information will be on the paperwork you bring. You may also carry a copy of the principal applicants visa / paperwork for verfication.
Assuming that the principal applicant lands first, and the dependents land later, does the PA have to be pysically present in Canada when the dependents land? To elaborate, here is the scenario:
A family of three (x,y,z) are to land before October 2007. However, they plan to migrate only in 2008. Because of their personal committments, x (PA) lands in June and comes back to his country. y and z land in September when x is not physically present in Canada. Will y and z face any problems in landing?
Would appreciate any advice from desis who have encountered similar situation. Thanks a lot!
