Today I got my official passport request letter. In which , it clearly says that I have to submit my and all dependents passport together. So I have no choice that my wife can send passport directly to Buffalo.

I called CIC, they said, they dont know whether it's legal or not to get somebody's passport by mail but best is not to do it. I asked them about how can I send both passport together. They said they dont have answer. Better contact Buffalo for assistance.

But once thing they said is, once I have passport with me, I can cross the border with it because I have a legal reason to carry her passport to US. That's not a problem.

There is no direct phone number to Buffalo to talk with. So I am gonna e-mail them and wait for their response. Meanwhile I will explore Indian Postal service. They have something (check link) but not sure whether they send it overseas or not.

Once I get any answer from CIC-Buffalo or find something new, I will surely post.

Yes I got the letter from CIC Buffalo. There was no specific instruction for my case. It was just general letter to submit passport. One important point is I have to submit all passports together. My and all my dependents. I did inquire everything regarding sending passport. DHL does accept it and so Indian Post. The problem with DHL is they need a special form from Passport office sign by their officer that I am sending my passport or something like that. I still need to inquire at passport office regarding this.

Meanwhile I have found that it is not a risk of sending passport through somebody along with proper authorization letter. This will reduce chances of passport getting lost or seize on the way. I am going for this option. I hope that works. something comes up, I will post it.

Kindly share how you managed it ? Did you send it through somebody (with authority letter) or through DHL with some letter from Passport ofice or through Indian Post (Speed post / Registered Post) ?
