Please, can anybody provide me informations about neighbourhood in Edmonton Alberta? Which place in Edmonton is good for living in respect of job opportunities, schools, low cost of living and adult education upgrading etc etc. Which area Pakistani and Indian community lives in Edmonton? Please only serious desis reply because i have noticed in this forum people make fun rather than helping. Most of the people need help desparately but the attitude of already settled people is funny.

South East Edmonton (Millwoods) is the desi area. But it is also the most crime prone area because of Asian Drug gangs.

South West is decent.

Sanober,

Edmonton is better because it is not as big as Toronto. The city is divided into different zones North East, North West, West, Central, South East and South West. Out of which Indians and Pakistanis mostly live in Millwoods in the south east zone. I would recommend Millwoods for a new comer of South Asian origin. The proximity of shops, schools, primary health centers and Gurudwara/Mandir/Mosque is better in Millwoods. Millwoods Welcome Center for Immigrants does a good job in helping out new immigrants in doing things like IQALS and providing orientation to new comers. It has good transport system (ETS - Edmonton Transit System) with buses plying to every part of the city. I had been here for the past couple of years and it is a nice place to be. Once when you have settled and plan to buy a house then you can think about various zones - South West is a newly developing community with number of well settled east indians.

Thanks,
Gandhigiri
