Buying Tata AIG from Thomas Cook. Why? Why not Tata Aig directly (this way you can check what you are getting). Is it coming as a part of your airline ticket package? You need to do some research here?

Look at National Insurance, India's largest General Insurance Co.. they will not let you down. As far as private insurers, there's an element of risk..

If buying from India , check out the website insurancepandit.com .. They are brokers for all major Insurance Companies and have a good filtering website .. Plus being Brokers can communicate on your behalf with Insurance companies .....Purchased through them recently and found them more responsive than the companies themselves ... http://www.insurancepandit.com/ ..

The policies come out of the Insurance companies themselves and surprisingly they are cheaper and quicker through a Broker .

There are companies that cover pre existing conditions ( some restrictions apply )

Canada insurance is better ...although no one will cover pre-existing conditions .

ICICI is the worst , don't take that :)

Its the restrictions where the fine print is - bottom line is Existing conditions aren't covered. Insurance companies are in the business of covering risk, not social welfare. If they start covering, then all of them will go bankrupt..
