Hello everyone:
Just found the link to CD from Google a couple of hours ago and have been browsing the forums since.
DT and Crew what an excellent initiative you have undertaken, however
This thread seems to have gone quiet since June..
Also "memocanada.org could not be found.."??? Whats happening?
I hope this venture is still on.

Microsoft - Which end of the stick do you want today?
Hey all,
I am lucky to have stumbled upon this site and then this community. I was looking for (believe it or not) the address of the guest house in Toronto, and then I came across the reviews of their placement services. I feel glad I read those. Now, I definitely would not like to go through them.
Anyway, about me, I am a 22 year old. I got my PR last year. My dad had applied for it. I have just completed my B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering in India, and will be going to Canada this September. I want to start working there once I reach. I have no relatives there, and so could use all the help I can get.
I am looking for accommodation, help in looking for a job, applying for SIN card, health card, etc. I will be coming there alone. I will be glad if some of you could please guide me. :)
I must admit, frankly, I am very very lost right now

HI floydopedia
I suggest you are fresh from college and an engineer, get yourself registered with PEO. Registering with PEO will give you Engineer In Training Title which you can use with our resume and may help you get a good job !!
Also you will be entitled for good insurance rates etc.
YOu will be asked to write 4 exams, join Ryerson for those 4 subject..........if you clear 2 exams with >60% other two are exempted.
You may also look for M.Tech/ PMP courses in UFT , Ryerson which will help you in future.............All the Best and Welcome to Canada !!
I remember when I first arrived, I really did not like the country. So senior Desi advised me:
FIRST year in Canada you absuse country as you are learning new things and hate them
SECOND year in Canada you are getting used to new culture so it is OK by then
THIRD year , you start loving the country. That is when Canadian GOvt comes are ask you do you want Canadian Citizenship or not !!
Hi Mentors,
I got my Canadian PR visa. I'm still in India. What happened to Mentors in Motion? Clicked on the link in the previous page and didn't get anywhere.
Even if this fantastic initiative has settled down into a comfortable slumber, is someone around to help once in a while?
I am waiting for some Univs. to make up their minds about whether to grant me an admission into their PhD program, starting this Fall.
In the meantime, I have this incredible urge to flip burgers in McDonald's in Victoria for a while. (Victoria is non-negotiable; everything else is). Can any of the mentors point me in the right direction for a 3-month, not-so-great- wage job in Victoria? It is not that I don't have any ambition, but after many years of cerebral work-outs, I really want to try something non-cerebral for a few months.
I did try a few websites, but there is nothing like networking.
Thank you for any input.
