What is the scope for Indian dentists?Do we have to clear an exam to practise?Should I rather immigrate or take a Canadian dental degree first?
you'll have to requalify. easier to immigrate and then study - cheaper & more accessible. However, please bear in mind the initial years: you won't be able to practise until you are licensed. Hence, you'll have to make do with any other job(s).

What was meant by studying and getting dentistry is not hard but getting license is? Hardest part is getting admission into a dental school. Once you complete the program and exam you are eligible to apply for license and then practice. Since last 3 years there is one more option of getting a license to work without doing the studying in university. Yo give a series of 5 exams conducted by NDEB(licensing authority for dentistry in canada)and you get the license to practice dentistry in Canada. In the second option you do not get a degree just a license to work in canada. but if you study in a University and get the degree it is valid to practice in canada, usa, Australia, newzealand and ireland.
To do the course in university and get the degree ,you need to be permanent resident of Canada. But direct licensing by giving the exams can be done by people even without permanent residence. Getting job maybe a different story without permanent residence.
It is easier to get admission in USA than in canada for the dentistry program because number of seats are much higher in USA. Whole of canada has 75 seats for foreign trained dentist every year. In USA a single university has around 60 seats for foreign trained dentist. When you complete studies in USA degree is valid to work in canada also.
But the fees maybe higher in USA.
