As advised by Lana, you should do US CPA before coming here - the biggest advantage is that you will be allowed to appear for a challenge exam for Canadian CA - that's all. However, as per present rules, one can appear for CPA exams only in USA and so you will have to make a trip (or more if you are not able to complete it in one sitting) to USA for that.
The second most important thing - or perhaps more important course for you will be CISA - Certified Information systems Auditor. With the advent of SOX, this has become a very important designation these days, and will keep growing. Once Bill 198 comes into effect in Canada (the Canadian version of Sarbanes Oxley Act), it will be a designation very much saught after.
CSC is not a difficult course and an Indian CA should normally be able to do it within 3 months usually - as I am informed. However, that is a pre-requisite for investment industry, and has NO use outside of that industry. But investment industry is quite big in Canada and therefore almost all consultants advise doing this course.
