Passport is not citizenship proof according to passport canada website.
That is very weird. Because within the passport (on the 1st page), it says in clear letters 'The bearer of this passport is a Canadian citizen'. And when I went to apply for a OHIP replacement card, I showed her my passport as a form of Citizenship. It doesn't make sense

Yes, it is bizarre, however, Canadian passport is not proof of citizenship...go figure !! Citizenship certificate is. I've read that too.

Can you clarify what this is for? Perhaps you are mistaken about a requirement on an application as I believe born citizens do not need to have a citizenship certificate. I may be wrong - is this for a passport?

You know, I was checking the passport application process - The Passport Canada website - and there it says someplace, that the passport is considered proof of citizenship for travel to most countries.
So, I guess, everyone else in the world considers the Cdn passport the proof of citizenship....except Canada.
Anyway, I love these misleading semantics...makes my day.

I have a question . I commute to work in US and if I submit my PR card and get the "not valid" stamp on landing document during the citizenship oath then when I apply for my cdn passport , Do I have to submit by cdn citizenship card or just show it at the counter and submit photocopies
If I have to submit my original citizenship card then How do I enter canada from US ..

your birth certificarte will prove that you are born here in canada and thus a canadian citizen . then you need to apply for a passport . I have never heard of a citizenship cert for natural citizens.
