Hi,
I am currently on H1 visa in USA, and I understand that I need to get Police Clearance from India and USA, before I apply for Canadian PR.
As I understand, I can get the police clearance for India through Indian Embassy in USA. But, can someone please explain me the procedure to get FBI clearance for USA?
How and where to get finger printing done?
How and where to apply for police clearance?
Any other formalities?
Thanks!
go to a pollice station in your area and they will let you know where you need to go for finger printing. FBI has offices all over the country. take your letter from the canadian councellate and tell them the reason you need to do it. they have a form that they take the fingerprints on . which they will send to langly they head quaters. then they will stamp them and mail to you. takes about about 4 weeks. do not fold the forms at all . you need to send origi\nals. to your canadian councelate.
they hate doing it. so you need to be extra polite . we got it done in minneapolis. their office there is in st paul.
best of luck
take your passport with you. Indiuan embassy takes 6 weeks and they need you to send them your original passport costs 45$ so plan your time well
micky20190 and Janmeja,
I saw in CIC Buffalo website saying that if you are living in the US, you do not need police clearance until the ask you to submit it.
What do you guys think about that? Or is it better to submit it with the application at the beginning?
Thanks
You have to get Indian Police Clearance certificate. If your passport is issued from USA then you will get it on the same day. If it is issued from India It may take around 35 days. You have to submit your original passport. it may cost you 20$ .

Hi,
I am filing my case through a lawyer and he recommends that we should supply all documents (inclusing FBI clearance and Indian Police Clearance) along with the application.
I know that CIC Buffalo website says that FBI clearance is not required at the time of filing, but they always ask for it later.
My lawyer also said that if you supply all documents, including the ones which are not mandatory to be supplied at the time of filing your application, chances of your interview waiver increase and your application is processed faster.
He has strongly recommened me to even take IELTS before filing the application.

Thank you micky20190 for clarifying Police Clearance thing.
Good luck to you.
