Alberta does provide coverage from the first day of landing. They would have to pay the health premium.
I am not sure however if this case would be covered.

Another problem for you will be getting hold of a good physician , gynaecologist after you arrive here. (you need to get a doctor who is not racist!) Those may be difficult to get in Saskatoon. Come IMMEDIATELY to Ontario. You can pay for most initial visits yourself. (One consultation costs 54 dollars , one ultrasond 167 dollars) You will be covered by OHIP by December.
