Recently one of my friend was telling that you have to be in canada for atleast 6 months in a year to maintain the PR status.Is it true? At the airport the pr card holders coming in to canada are asked about the period of absence from canada.The details are entered in their files.I also heard that the new PR cards are with some software that can track your movements in and out of Canada.

The 6 months / year rule is an old one. Since July 2002 a new rule has been effective.
